Black practice ink gives outlines and dark shapes a clear comparison on synthetic surfaces.
Begin with a compact yellow shape inside a familiar outline. Compare how its size and position change the balance of the motif. Repeating the same shape lets you study the edge of the fill and its relationship to neighbouring marks, before expanding to a larger colour design.
Choose Lemon Yellow for bright accent studies. Keep the first motif simple so you can concentrate on the placement of the yellow area.
For a line-first study, True Black practice ink gives you a clear starting outline. Add Lemon Yellow when the colour area becomes the focus of the exercise.

Keep the outline, practice surface and equipment setup consistent. Compare the edge and visual balance of each attempt before changing another part of the exercise.
