Work colour into the smaller parts of a composition
RS keeps a round footprint while giving the points space within the grouping. Choose it for colour inside a smaller shape, texture around an outline or a tonal transition that benefits from a compact working tip. It earns its place beside a liner when the drawing moves from defining the edge to developing what sits inside it.
For contours, use Thunder Pro RL. For a broad background or larger fill, consider a magnum. RS sits between those jobs: more open than a focused liner, more compact in shape than a wide magnum edge.
Start with the area you want to shade
1003RS or 1005RS are useful first choices for smaller local fills and texture. Both use 0.30 mm wire; the three-point grouping gives you the smaller footprint, while five points give more coverage within the round form. Choose 1007RS or a larger grouping when the section has more room to work.
The 10 and 12 series both offer 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 14 points. The 10 series uses 0.30 mm wire; the 12 series 0.35 mm. Compare the same point count when deciding wire size—for example 1005RS and 1205RS—so you change the needle body while keeping a five-point grouping.
If the design keeps asking you to cover broad sections, move to M1 for its wider working edge rather than choosing RS solely by adding more points.
Professional quality in a compact shading format
304 stainless steel needles and EO sterilisation support Thunder Pro’s professional needle specification. Selected to ATTO’s highest professional quality standard, RS brings its circular shading geometry to compatible universal-cartridge pens.
Choose 1003RS for the smaller grouped footprint or 1005RS for more local coverage, then adjust the grouping around the next section of the design.
When should I choose 10 or 20?
Choose 10 to introduce a shader configuration or keep a secondary Style available. Choose 20 when it is a regular part of your appointments, keeping more of the same configuration ready between orders.
How does it fit my pen?
The standard universal cartridge connection fits compatible tattoo and PMU pens using that connection. Keep the family choice focused on the mark you want to make.
