Taper is a field inside the Style value, written in the same string as needle count and diameter.

Take 3RL-0.25mm Long Taper. Four pieces of information appear in that string: 3, RL, 0.25mm and Long Taper. ATTO's record gives those four strings. It does not define the length of a taper and it does not rank one taper above another.

What the record states

What ATTO gives in the Style value is the taper name: Long Taper or Medium Taper. The record does not state the ground-section length those names refer to, and it does not state how either changes the point of contact — neither is in ATTO's published fields.

Count, diameter and taper name are written in the same Style string, so they only ever appear together in one option.

Where taper appears in ATTO's range

Taper lives inside the Style label, so it is visible in the Style selector on the product page. Seven products in the Needle Cartridges family carry a taper label, giving 18 tapered Styles in total.

Three things follow from those 18 Styles:

  1. The fields sit in one string: all 18 Styles take the form [count][configuration] - [diameter] [taper], with the taper written together with the diameter.
  2. If your plan calls for a long taper, the Long Taper label sits on one product — the 1R single-needle cartridge, across five Styles, so confirm it before anything else. The remaining tapered Styles are Medium Taper.
  3. Diameters are stated precisely inside the Style: 0.18mm, 0.25mm and 0.30mm all appear across these taper labels.

On taper length

ATTO gives the taper name in the Style value — Long Taper or Medium Taper. If the length of the ground section matters to the way you work, ask ATTO for the taper specification for that model, and confirm that the complete Style available covers what you need.

How to use taper in a decision

These fields are written into one Style value, and you can read them in any order.

  1. Interface. Which Machine compatibility group your machine takes.
  2. Configuration. The available configuration codes include 1R / RL, RS, F / XF, MG / CM and 0411U.
  3. Count. The number written in the same string.
  4. Diameter. One product commonly offers several diameters (0.18mm, 0.25mm, 0.30mm).
  5. Taper. Long Taper or Medium Taper, present on some Styles only.

ATTO's published basis for the PMU cartridge collection is: start with machine compatibility, then compare configuration and pack quantity.

Why "Long Taper is better" is the wrong reading

  • The record gives names, not grades. Long Taper and Medium Taper are two different values, and ATTO's record does not rank them.
  • More than the taper differs between two Styles. 3RL-0.25mm Long Taper and 9CM-0.25mm Medium Taper also differ in configuration and count, and the record does not state what any one of those differences produces.
